WHERE TO SWIM

Bozcaada'da Nerede Yüzülür

The virgin coves with their crystal clear waters are another attraction of the island. These big and little coves, which are so many in number that those who come across them for the first time are stunned are mostly suitable for swimming.

The water surrounding the island is generally cold, but it is not difficult to get used to its refreshing effect. Some of the coves are too big to be missed and wait for you to discover them. Yet, you get the feeling that you are the first to set foot on this small cove. Even in the most crowded season, you have the chance of finding a cove which is exclusively at your service.

Another advantage of the island is that it offers you a choice of places to swim even on very windy days. What you should do first on such days is to determine the direction of the wind. If there is a south wind, the coves on the eastern and northern part are best, if it is blowing from the north, which is mostly the case, those coves located in the southern part of the island are ideal to go swimming.

Ayazma and Habbele on the southern shores are two bays with resorts for day-trippers. The only minibus service on the island goes to these places. Here you can rent sunshades, chaise longues, and showers. There are also restaurants where you can dine all through the day.

The other coves on the other hand wait for you with all their natural setting. You can reach those which are near the town centre by walking or by bike, but it is wiser to drive to those coves on the far away south coast. It is advisable to take water and parasols along as you set off for these places.

You can also swim in the center of the island.
